About Nick

Nick Coleman was born in Buckinghamshire in 1960, but grew up in the fens outside Cambridge.

He has been an arts and music journalist for twenty-five years, principally with NME, Time Out and, for a dozen years, both the Independent and the Independent on Sunday.

He has also written for The Times, Guardian, Daily Telegraph, New Statesman, US Vogue, Intelligent Life and The Wire – mostly about music but also about sport, books and travel.

He was the co-editor in 1996 of The Picador Book of Sportswriting and the writer and presenter of a Radio 4 series on sportswriting.

His first book, THE TRAIN IN THE NIGHT: A Story of Music and Loss is to be published on 2 Feb 2012 by Jonathan Cape.
